Sugar and Spice Blog Hop at 2 broke Girls

Welcome to the Spice & Sugar Sketch A Thon!  If you watch 2 Broke Girls you know the Spice & Sugar theme came from the  "It's Not Pretty Enough" episode!  Here is the clip   so you will notice that our sketches are all black and white and fairly simple, so your mission is to add embellies and make them pretty!  You will have the entire month of September to complete the sketch a thon, each dt will be offering an RAK for completing their sketch, and we will offer a grand prize at the end of the month! Back to the blogging world

This has been so frustrating not having my cpu for a couple of reasons and this has been the biggest one. Since I'm on Bob's computer the office has certain firewalls on it and one of them was posting pictures on certain places. I think they do an amazing job on security but it frustrates me at times.

So two trips over here from our cpu specialist a couple of phone calls and we installed Foxfire and it's working for me.

I have to say I'm sorry  to all my teams for my lack of posting the layouts and sketches on here. It's nice to be back. Ahh in 2 weeks I switch back to Florida so I have a lot of things to get done on here and everyplace.

 

 

This one is for my home base - I may be on other teams but this one is the one I find to be my daily place to be- Kitchen keepsakes.

Sketch challnge for August

Sunnyside Up Creations

It's an amazing site and I feel really blessed to be among the amazing group of talented ladies on this team. You'll find inspiration from every area of art, paining, needlework, baking, scrap-booking and jewelry.  Check it out every week they have a different color pallet to work with Sunnyside Up Creations.

I've posted to their creations on the side bar but this is my first official  post as part of the design team.  It goes without saying I'm very excited to be part of the group, some of these ladies are also on the Scrapbook Challenges team and also design on Kitchen keepsakes, which means it gives us even more chances to create together. 

It's unusual when I'm not journaling but I wanted to keep the layout focused on the grandmothers in my life, it's going in a book for my daughter about her grandparents. I have written about all of them in there. I used original photos so I really do treasure these small  pictures.

Try - try again

Type pad is acting like a two year old tonight - it keeps flipping off and on. I've been a blog slacker lately with being gone most of the month of August - it has to take it's toll someplace. So it's good to be able to take some time to catch up on some things. I was gone more days in August than I was home and I don't like it when that happens.

I never like not keeping up with my design teams on posting here and some new challenges. So I went to one of my favorite sites and made a card from the sketch challenge at The Paper Bakery  -  I love the kits and since I just got the new one I can't wait to create some fun things with it.

Here's the card sketch:

I turned the oval sideways and then I punched out the little squares for the line, distressed them and then stitched them on a separate piece of paper.

I used the pin, attachments and tags from the kit also.

Fun card, awesome kit and fantastic to be back blogging. Time to go create some more projects.

Hero's by David Bowie - Scrap it with a Song

It looks like someone was a hero in their cousin's eyes- at least when you are four and two it doesn't take a lot to be one. This was a fun day at the pavilion for a picnic at the beach. Having all the kids together is always fun and getting them to stand still for photos - even better.

Father's Day card from Go Fish

   I needed to get a card made for Bob and  the perfect challenge came up on    Go Fish Challenges to create a Father's Day card from this sketch.

I took the sketch and some of my new supplies to the lodge for the weekend and got his card done. I used the new Basic Grey line pb&j  - it's a fun line to work with and between that line and some other new ones I got quite a bit done . I got 2 layouts completed, 2 more partial ones and one card.

I also got over 50 towels washed and folded from all the company, cooked, hiked and got in a nap one afternoon. It still feels the best to be scrapping in my own room though. We're really hitting the extremes this month 2 times at the lodge in the middle of 500 acres, no TV and limited internet to Vegas next week for 6 days. I like both of them for what they have but then I'm happy just about anyplace I am.

Creating from the Shores  - more layouts - less family talk on it.

Here's 18 of the 21 young people that we got to spend the holiday with- it was great. From age 1 to 20 and they all had fun , helped out, fished, made camp fires and played games.  It's such a delight to spend time with all of them and I need to get more pictures from the time on here.

Go Fish - what a great challenge blog

First off I have to say it's a really cute name for a challenge blog and they are having a design team call, it ends today so I'm really at the end of the time. I looked at the great challenge before the weekend but entertaining 50 people over 4 days takes just a little bit of time away from scrapping fun.

 Here's the one I did for it-  a fun picture of three of the grandson's at Egmount Key in Florida.

Wow- it's hard to believe looking at this picture how much different they all are today, one graduating from high school next week, one in Florida going to MMI and working full time and the one in the middle just returned yesterday from his tour in Afghanistan.  I'm so proud of all three of them!!

Sketches in Thyme - fun picture to get scrapped

This was just a cute quick picture of Cynthia I took after she was eating a powered donut one day - cute smile and sweet memory for her to have.

The sketch is from Sketches in Thyme - I really enjoy the sketches they have, they are great ones to work with.

It's going to be hard to take a scrapping break for a few days but the time spent with Rebecca is so much better- it's house hunting time for her!!

It's the Game of Life challenge at Child's Play

When the new challenge at Child's Play was the Game of Life, I looked at the colors and found this picture. There's not a better person to have spent my game of life with  and we still are at it.

The little car border reminded me of the game and the map also did. It was a fun challenge to do, check out the  other great layouts the team created. Child's Play
